About the Company

The history of the “Rudas” company began in 1976, when a sea-sand extraction enterprise was established for the purpose of city development as well as for the construction of the dike. Today the “Rudas” company is incorporated in the LSR Group and occupies leading positions in the market of inert construction materials of Saint-Petersburg and the Leningrad region, representing a multifunctional complex for extraction, transportation, processing and shipment of high-quality sand for construction works and creation of new aggradational territories.

The structure of the “Rudas” company includes the “Rudas” OJSC, the “Leningrad River Port” OJSC, which has been specialising in extraction of sea-sand for forty years, the “Saint-Petersburg River Port” OJSC and “Vsevolozhskoye SMP” CJSC. The company’s personnel numbers over 1000 specialists.

Today the “Rudas” company represents a unique producer and supplier of sea-sand in Saint-Petersburg and the Leningrad region. Extraction of sea-sand is performed from the deposits located in the water areas of the Gulf of Finland in the Baltic Sea.

The fleet of the company numbers 38 vessels of various purposes. These include sea dredge ships of the type of “Leningradskiy”, especially built for extraction of sea-sand and motor vessels of the type of “Nevskiy”, related to decantation type vessels.

Along with the extraction and processing of sea-sand, the “Rudas” company also performs extraction of sand from waterside deposits located within the territory of Leningrad region.

Along with the extraction and processing of sea and pit sand, the “Rudas” company also performs works for creation of new aggradational territories. The given technology is widely used for construction of the quays on river and sea ports and new urban territories. Thus, the “Rudas” company participated in large-scale projects – sea-sand alluvion of the territory of South-West and Primorskiy districts of the city, the Complex of Saint-Petersburg Protection Structures against floods, quays of the Sea Commercial Port, the Petersburg Petroleum Terminal, for the construction of the “LukOil II” transfer–distribution complex for petroleum and petroleum products in the port of Vysotsk.

During the year 2006, the volume of sales of the “Rudas” company amounted to 11.5 million cubic metres. Supplies of sand for construction of the Ring Road around the city of Saint-Petersburg were performed, as well as supplies for construction of the the Nokian Tyres factory, Toyota factory, Izhora Factory, trading complexes of IKEA, Okay, Lenta, Carrousel and other facilities of no lesser importance.
